Understanding Money can contribute to Wellbeing and Wellness

For Tax Day, I thought I’d talk about money from a different angle. Let’s be real—many people dislike paying taxes, even though they understand it’s part of how our government functions. Plenty are frustrated by how tax dollars are spent and what they fund. Like with any organization, where the money goes says a lot about what’s valued. I think we need a broader conversation about money, especially around the stock market. You might be wondering—what does the stock market have to do with health, well-being, and wellness? If that thought popped up, read that again. Many of us have an unhealthy relationship with money, and some even have a trauma response when dealing with it. The stock market often feels like a topic reserved for millionaires or corporations, but it should be part of a discussion on building healthy financial literacy, which supports healthier lives. Another important piece is generational wealth—how we can live comfortably while creating assets and opportunities for the next generation to grow from. Imagine the relief during an unexpected financial crisis if you didn’t have to juggle what bills to delay or what necessities to skip. As adults, how different might our health be if we’d learned healthy money habits as kids? Not just putting cash in a piggy bank or a low-interest savings account, but learning how to invest, understanding high-yield savings, using credit wisely, and gaining perks and benefits through smart financial choices that grow our wealth.

I want to share the brilliance of two young siblings whose mission is to teach business and stock trading to anyone eager to learn. I came across their story through a post by the organization Because of Them We Can. The siblings YouTube channel is called Stock Up Kids, and their website is stockupkids.com. It was inspiring to read and hear about how they aim to help not just children, but people of all ages, understand money as a tool and how to use it to build FREEDOM. What’s healthier than being free? Revive & Flourish and The Tinderbox Podcast Community love sharing stories like this with the village. We aspire to spark conversations around health and wellness, inspire ideas for living healthier lives, and imagine a future where we and our loved ones are freed from the grip of poverty.
